This tarantula has many names and there is no wonder many of them revolve around the word "beauty". As far as Mexican species go, this is truely one of the most impressive of them all. Both males and females exhibit bright orange red coloration that is especailly bright right after a molt, which sets it apart from the tyical brown or black coloration with orange highlights that are often seen in this genus. The black triangle on the caripace is another unique feature and appears to have been "painted on" hence the name "Mexican Painted Tarantula".
